Thefromis a complete and full-featured Digital Audio Worksation (DAW), comprising a control surface/mixer with analog, digital and MIDI input and output. The whole system communicates with a computer via a single FireWire cable. Together, the system provides everything needed to capture, edit and output high quality audio with the user needing only to provide microphones, monitors and a computer.
The control surface provides 8 touch-sensitivefaders, 8 assignable knobs, 10 scribble strips, and a complete control section,in addition to 4 microphone preamps with phantom power and individual high-passfilters. Transport controls and the usual solo, mute, and select/record armswitches are also included.
In addition to 8 high-quality analog I/O s, the003 provides 8-channels of ADAT Light Pipe I/O (48kHz maximum), 2 channels ofcoaxial S/PDIF, Word clock I/O and MIDI I/O. The unit ships with 2 headphoneoutputs with individual source and level control, in addition to a studiomonitor output, plus alternate control room output.
The Pro Tools 8 LE software offers 48 tracks ofsimultaneous record and playback, 256 MIDI tracks, real-time (RTAS) plug-insupport as well as Audio Suite functionality, and a host of additional editingand mixing features. A comprehensive selection of DigiRack plug-ins is includedcovering everything from virtual instruments, EQ and dynamics, through delaysand pitch shifting, and more. The software is cross-platform and sessionscreated on this system are fully compatible with higher-end Digidesigns ProTools HD systems.
